Indonesian authorities say they will move to extradite an alleged people smuggling ringleader who helped 900 asylum-seekers reach Australia.
Iraqi man Hadi Ali Asgar El Ahmadi, 38, was apprehended on his arrival at Jakarta's international airport last month, after Interpol issued a "red notice" requesting his arrest.
Indonesian Immigration Office director general for Investigation and Law Enforcement Syaiful Rachman described El Ahmadi as a "big fish". He said Australian authorities were not involved in his arrest.......
"He's now still under investigation by the police and according to the interpol, he (will be) be extradited to Australia.
