Seven in court over 'foot spa' drugs

A Vietnamese organised crime syndicate was behind an attempt to smuggle $31 million worth of drugs hidden in foot spas and massage chairs into Australia, a court has heard.

Five men and two women, including a Qantas flight attendant, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court today after the Australian Federal Police raided a Sunshine West warehouse on Saturday........

Qantas flight attendant Angela Wong, 23, of Padstow, New South Wales, and her boyfriend Han Trung Trinh, 23, of Punchbowl, New South Wales were today denied bail by magistrate Jelena Popovic on three charges of attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a controlled drug in relation to the ice, ecstasy and cocaine.

Minh Quang Nguyen, 31, of Brooklyn faced the same three charges while Manh Le, 40, of Canada, Phousadeth Phommalysack, 24, of Preston, New South Wales, Hung Van Luong, 49, of Laverton and Phuong Bich Nguyen, 31, of Springvale, were charged with an additional three offences of attempting to import the drugs.
