The tensions of the home country are not forgotten when the uber-national Islamic Turks move to Europe. On the contrary. Last week, a new wave of violent protests hit the streets of Germany and some other European countries intended to pressure the Erdogan government to take action against the will of the U.S. and the E.U. across the border inside the (disputed) Kurdish territory of Northern Iraq. Of course, it’s about the oil as the area is very oil rich and the money to be made from this cache will aid the Kurds towards their goal of independence; an idea which the Turks find threatening and unthinkable.
