A STUDENT who pleaded guilty to committing indecent acts with a nine-year-old girl in a shopping centre change room was in Australia on a bogus student visa at the time of the assault.

The County Court heard Mohammad Sehnawaz Khan, who purported to be 22, was really 31 and had two convictions in NSW under a different name.

Khan, a Box Hill TAFE student living in Springvale and working as a Coles supermarket employee at the time of the assault, arrived in Australia in 2001 as Mohammad Shahzard Khan before returning to India in December 2004.

He returned to Australia on a student visa in October 2005 under a different middle name and an altered birth date of 1984.
