oct 06

This article comes to give a simple explanation of the different types of veil and a run down of what's happening across Europe. I hope to keep it updated as things change.

The full veil is a bit scary like hooded gangs are, for this reason restrictions must be understood also.It can also cover up for bad treatment by husband or others. When I went withy my child into a shop and a covered girl in all black came along, the child jumped with anxiety and I had to calm him down. It does look scary, all black and no facial reactions. It dehumanises the world when all you see is without reactions in a face. It is a bit like some dress codes fram Heavy Metal band..it does convey a kind of rough careless style. The person also becomes dehumanised when this is a normal dress code. For this it is clear it should have no place in schools, and schools reject a kind of violent dresscode already,it is different outdoors I think. But full cover of face does do something to a society which is not easy to define, it makes woman more like a body object without opinions and there is an underlying possible violence, if you are not human you can be treated inhumane. The normal scarf does not have this aura about it at least not to the extent so I thinnk it is very different. However it does focus very much on the body and places the face as a show case for the body. It appeals too much to a mystery and some dress their face as to say...now you see my face just think what is underneath all of this... some obviously play along with the look and emphasizes it and religion is far away from their use of the veil. Some are obviously totally unaware of the visual language they may evoke. But visual language is visual language and it does speak up whatever you may think of it.
