THE owner of a Melbourne company has been fined more than $9000 by the Federal Magistrates' Court for underpaying four Chinese guest workers.

The Office of Workplace Services took the action against Dor Tu, the owner of printing company Aprint Pty Ltd, over breaches to the Workplace Relations Act ...

The four Chinese employees came to Australia as part of the Federal Government's temporary migration scheme, which allows companies to bring in foreign workers on temporary work visas.

The OWS has said workers under this scheme were entitled to the same level of protection under the act as Australian workers, and exploitation would not be tolerated.

Mr O'Sullivan described the breaches as serious and said Tu displayed a cavalier attitude to compliance with workplace relations laws.
