POLICE are concerned that an organised crime gang could be behind the brazen theft of more than 50 firearms from a gun shop in Ipswich, Queensland.
At least 45 handguns, including semi-automatic pistols, six shotguns and rifles and ammunition was stolen in what police describe as a "very sophisticated" robbery.
Between 2pm (AEST) on Saturday and 8am on Sunday thieves disabled the alarm system of the Queensland Shooters' Supplies dealership before cutting a hole in the roof.
A cabinet safe in which the guns were stored was broken into and a hard drive used to store surveillance footage was also taken.
